MAAC Offensive Player of the Week

Leanne Ockenden, Marist

Sr., G, 5-11, Syracuse, N.Y./Christian Brother Academy

 

The senior guard from Syracuse, N.Y. had a career weekend in the Hall of Fame Challenge at Ohio State. In three games, Ockenden shot 63.6 percent from the field making 21-of-33 shots, 47.4percent on 9-of-19 shooting from three-point range, and 100 percent from the free-throw line connecting on 12-of-12 attempts. Against the Buckeyes, Ockenden shot 7-of-8 (.875) from the field and 6-of-7 (.857) from three-point range. Ockenden registered 16 points vs. Bowling Green, 23 at Ohio State, and 24 vs. Old Dominion, for a total of 63 points on the weekend in 114 minutes of play. She also averaged 2.0 rebounds and assists on the weekend.  

 

 

MAAC Rookie of the Week

Helena Kurt, Monmouth

Fr., G, 5-5, Spanga, Sweden/Igelstavikens Gymnasium

 

Kurt saw increased minutes in each game this week and didn’t disappoint. After scoring just three points in only 14 minutes at Delaware, the freshman Swede scored a season-high 13 points on 4-of-7 shooting, including 2-of-4 from long range, to go along with two assists against St. Bonaventure in 24 minutes. She then added a team-high nine points and two assists in 26 minutes against No. 1 Connecticut and 10 points and a season-high four assists on 4-of-6 shooting (2-of-4 3-pt. FG) in a season-high 29 minutes. For the week, she averaged 8.8 points, 2.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists while maintaining a 1.0 assist-to-turnover ratio from the point guard position. She shot 48.0 percent, including 37.5 percent from long range and 83.3 from the free-throw line.
