2015 MAAC Volleyball Major Awards Announced

EDISON, NJ – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) has announced the 2015 volleyball major award winners and All-MAAC teams, as selected by the leagues 10 head coaches.
Siena College’s Briana Flagg is the 2015 MAAC Volleyball Player of the Year, while teammate Haley Howell is the Setter of the Year. The Siena duo highlight the All-MAAC First Team. Flagg, led the MAAC in kills per set with a 4.02 average, which ranks 48th in the NCAA, and in points per set with a 4.30 average. Flagg was named the MAAC Player of the Week twice during the regular season. Howell was the league leader in assists per set (10.40) while totaling 1,092 total assists on the season, which ranks 54th in the nation. Howell now has 3,200 career assists as a member of the Siena Saints. She was named MAAC Player of the Week four times this season.
Rylee Hunt of Niagara University is the 2015 MAAC Libero of the Year. Hunt led the MAAC with 5.13 digs per set and ranked third in the conference with 534 total digs. Hunt was also ninth in the MAAC with an average of 0.34 service aces per set. She was named the Libero of the week on September 22.
The 2015 MAAC Volleyball Rookie of the Year is Hailey Riede of Rider University. Riede ranked second among freshmen in the MAAC in hitting percentage (.240) and ranked third among freshmen in kills per set (2.59). Her 2.87 points per game ranked her third in her rookie class. Riede was named MAAC Rookie of the Week and MAAC Player of the Week one time each this season.
The 2015 Lids Team Sports MAAC Coach of the Year is Todd Kress of Fairfield University. Kress led the Stags to the regular season championship after his team posted a 14-4 MAAC record and 19-9 overall mark. Under Kress, the Stags closed out the regular season on a 10 match winning streak en route to the regular season crown. Kress is now a four time MAAC Coach of the Year.
Joining Flagg and Howell on the All-MAAC First Team are Canisius College teammates Lauren Siebert and Katlyn Tyler, Skyler Day and Megan O’Sullivan of Fairfield University, and Kelsey Lahey of Marist College.
Joining Hunt on the All-MAAC Second Team is her teammate Melissa McGwin, the Marist College duo of Amanda Schlegel and Courtney Shaw, Manhattan College teammates Jade Gray and Claire Van Dyk and Kaitlyn Griffin of Rider University.
Joining Riede on the All-Rookie Team is Oyinkansola Akinola of Fairfield University, Iona College teammates Claire Archibald and Jessica Paolucci, Jen Coffey of Quinnipiac University, Marlena Budna of Saint Peter’s University and Darby Taylor of Siena College.
