Offensive Player of the Week
Alexa Smith, Monmouth
So., A, 5-3, West Hampton Beach, NY/Westhampton Beach
Smith had an explosive week on attack for the Hawks scoring eight goals in Monmouth’s 1-1 week. In Wednesday’s 17-16 win over Bucknell, the West Hampton Beach native scored a career-high five goals and assisted on two others for a career-best seven points. In Saturday’s game against 7-1 Delaware she scored a hat trick and added a draw control. Smith was deadly accurate on the week, with 10 of 12 shots on goal and a perfect 3-for-3 on free position goals.
Defensive Player of the Week
Kyle Larkin, Quinnipiac
So., GK, 5-3, Holbrook, NY/Sachem East
Kyle Larkin came up big again for the Bobcats as she notched eight saves and allowed a career-low four goals in a 7-4 home win over UMass Lowell. In a game that saw the Bobcat offense come up with only seven goals, Larkin’s solid outing is significant on many levels as she helped allow the fewest goals in a game for Quinnipiac since an 8-4 win over Monmouth back on April 23, 2010 (86 games ago). In her last two games, Larkin has allowed just nine goals (4.50 GAA) and posted 19 saves (.679 save percentage) to pick up two straight wins for the Bobcats.
Rookie of the Week
Lynnzee Miller, Siena
Fr., A, 5-3, Oshweken, Ontario/The Hill Academy
Miller continued her torrid start to her collegiate career with six more points last week for the Saints, on the strength of five goals. Miller erupted for five points (four goals) and won a pair of draw controls in the Saints’ rout of Atlantic-10 foe St. Bonaventure Saturday. Miller also added a goal and caused a turnover in Siena’s matchup Wednesday against Binghamton. Miller has recorded hat tricks in four of her first six collegiate games and leads the Saints in both scoring (20) and goals (18).
