McCormick, Maloney and Roemer Earn Women's Lacrosse Weekly Awards

Mary Kate McCormick

The Iona senior captain Mary Kate McCormick lead the Geals with four goals on just eight shots, while also tallying a game-high five assists for nine total points in the team’s victory on Saturday. Behind McCormick’s strong offensive performance, the Gaels defeated LIU Brooklyn 14-11. McCormick leads the MAAC in assists and assists per game with 34 and 3.20, respectively.
Defensive Player of the Week
Megan Maloney
So., M, 5-9, Victor, NY/Victor
Maloney was a spark defensively for the Golden Griffins this past week leading the team in draw controls with eight, while causing two turnovers in a 16-5 win over St. Bonaventure on Monday. In Canisius’s 12-7 victory over Quinnipiac on Saturday April, tallying two assists, three draw controls and causing one turnover.
Rookie of the Week
Jourdan Roemer
Fr., A, 5-7, Irondequoit, NY/West Irondequoit
Roemer has been an offensive threat this past week netting in four goals and getting an assist in the team’s convincing 16-5 victory over St. Bonaventure on Monday. On the road, Roemer scored three goals, while gaining two more assists totaling 10 points in the past two games. In the past three games, the freshman from Irondequoit, NY Jourdan Roemer has scored 10 goals, recording 14 points during that time.
