Offensive Player of the Week

Erica Evans, Canisius

So., M, 5-8, Peterborough, Ontario/St. Peter’s Secondary

Evans led the Golden Griffins to a 19-3 victory over Manhattan Saturday afternoon, recording career highs in both goals (7) and points (9), while being one goal shy of a school single game record.  The sophomore scored five goals in the team’s 11-0 run to begin the game and excelled in all areas recording 8 draw controls, 3 caused turnovers and 3 groundballs. Evans now leads the team in both goals (28) and points (35) on the year.

Defensive Player of the Week

Caroline Huelster, Monmouth

Sr., GK, 5-8, Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape

Huelster turned away 17 shots over two wins for the Hawks last weekend. The senior owned a 5.78 goals against average and a 6.07 save percentage. She had one of her finest performances of the season in Monmouth’s 7-6 win over Manhattan, saving 13 shots while allowing just six goals for an impressive .684 save percentage. Active in the field, she collected seven ground balls in the contest as well. She followed that up with a four save effort in Monmouth’s 15-6 win over Quinnipiac, allowing just five goals in 54 minutes of work.

Rookie of the Week

Jourdan Roemer, Canisius

Fr., A, 5-7, Irondequoit, NY/West Irondequoit

Roemer was a major contributor in the Griffs 19-3 victory over Manhattan on Saturday recording two goals and two assists, while also causing a turnover. She was a key factor in igniting the team’s 11-0 run to open the game, scoring the first and third goals for the Blue and Gold. The freshman has now recorded multiple goals in four straight games.
