Final Women's Lacrosse Weekly Awards Announced

Offensive Player of the Week

Alex Fehmel, Fairfield

Jr., M, 5-7, Shoreham, NY/Shoreham Wading River

The junior had six points in the season finale win over Manhattan. Fehmel racked up five goals on six shots and added one assist on the day. She was also 3-3 on free position shots. In addition to the goal scoring she scooped up five groundballs, grabbed two draw controls, and caused three turnovers. Fehmel now leads Fairfield with 45 points off 33 goals and 12 assists. She is also the team leader with 33 groundballs and 18 caused turnovers.

Defensive Player of the Week

Chelsey Sidaras, Fairfield

Sr., GK, 5-11, Mastic Beach, NY/William Floyd

Senior goalkeeper Chelsey Sidaras allowed just eight goals against the Jaspers on Wednesday afternoon in a 13-8 victory. She played all 60 minutes, facing 20 total shots, and making seven saves. Sidaras also picked up two ground balls in the win.  

Rookie of the Week

Hailey Wagner, Marist

Fr., M, 5-9, Brookhaven, NY/Bellport

Wagner scored on both of her shots on goal and tied for a team high with four draw controls as Marist concluded the regular season with a win at Siena on April 27. The 13-12 victory gave the Red Foxes a quarterfinal round bye and the no. 2 seed heading into the MAAC Tournament. Wagner’s 60 draw controls in 2016 are third most in a single season for Marist.
