Monmouth Men's Track and Field Crowned the 2016 MAAC Champions

Lawrenceville, NJ - The Monmouth University Men's Track and Field team captured its third-straight title at the 2016 MAAC Outdoor Track & Field Championship at Rider University on Sunday, May 8 in Lawrenceville, New Jersey.
The Hawks won the meet with a score of 255 points. Manhattan College finished second with 153 points. In third place was Rider with 151 points. Iona placed in fourth with 109 points. Saint Peter’s finished fifth with 51, while Marist placed sixth with 48 points. In seventh place was Canisius with 39 points and rounding out the standing was Siena with 10 points.
Tevin Kirby-Stewart of Monmouth University was named the Most Outstanding Performer for Field Events. Kirby-Stewart won the shot put with a throw of 17.38 meters and the discus throw with an effort of 51.27 meters at the 2016 MAAC Track and Field Championships. Kirby-Stewart also placed 4th in the men’s hammer throw with a throw of 54.24 meters.
Geordan Ferguson of Monmouth University earned Most Outstanding Performer for Track Events. Ferguson won the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 14.46 and the 400 meter intermediate hurdles with a time of 53.03 at the 2016 MAAC Track and Field Championships.
Joe Compagni of Monmouth University was named the 2016 Men’s Coach of the Year.
Joseph Marini of Monmouth University set a new MAAC Championship record on day two of the 2016 MAAC Men’s and Women’s Track and Field Championships in the triple jump with a jump of 15.47 meters. On day one, Hayden Clarke of Manhattan College broke a MAAC Championship record in the long jump with an effort of 7.59 meters.
