2016 MAAC Women's Soccer Major Awards Announced

WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) has announced the 2016 women’s soccer major award winners and All-MAAC teams, as selected by the leagues 11 head coaches.
The 2016 MAAC Rookie of the Year is Madie Gibson from Monmouth University. Gibson led the MAAC with 28 overall points, 1.56 points per game, and tied for first in the conference with 10 goals scored and .56 goals per game.
The 2016 MAAC Defensive Player of the Year is Tara Sobierajski from Siena College. She ranked third in the MAAC with eight assists and an average of 0.44 assists per game. Sobierajski has played in every game in her Saints career and holds the programs all-time assists record with 23.
The 2016 Goalkeeper of the Year is Bethany- May Howard of Rider University. Howard ranked second in the conference with a .842 save percentage, six shutouts, and third in the MAAC with a 1.02 Goals against Average, 5.65 saves per game and 96 total saves. She was named MAAC Defensive Player of the Week four times this season.
The 2016 MAAC Offensive Player of the Year is Alexis McTamney from Monmouth University. McTamney is the back-to-back Offensive Player of the Year for the Hawks. She recorded 20 points this season, scoring six goals and dishing out 8 assists. She led the MAAC with 4.39 shots per game and 79 shots overall.
The 2016 BSN Sports MAAC Coach of the Year is Krissy Turner of Monmouth University. Turner led her Hawks to an undefeated mark in conference play and secured its fourth straight regular season conference championship.
