Edison, N.J. - Sophomore midfielder Adam Jones of Canisius College and junior goalie Brent Herbst of Siena College have been named preseason All-Americans by Inside Lacrosse. Jones and Herbst, who received honorable mention to the team, were recognized in the publication’s annual Face-Off Yearbook.

During his rookie season, Jones (Owen Sound, Ontario/St. Mary’s) became the first Griff to garner All-America honors, leading Canisius to its first MAAC Championship and NCAA Tournament appearance. He was also named to the All-MAAC First Team and picked up all-tournament honors during the conference’s championship.

One of three freshmen in the country to be named an All-American last season, Jones posted a team-best 47 points and 38 goals to go along with nine assists. He led the MAAC and finished 14th nationally with 2.38 goals per game, which was also the highest mark by any midfielder nationally.

Herbst (Plainview, NY/Plainview JFK) was named to the All-MAAC Second Team after posting an overall record of 10-4 for the Saints.  He also finished as the 2008 Division I statistical champion for goals-against average, with a 6.08 GAA.

As a freshman in 2007, Herbst amassed a record of 8-4 and had a GAA of 7.86, leading the conference in that statistic.  He was also named All-MAAC Second Team, and earned MAAC Co-Rookie of the Year honors.

The 2009 MAAC Men’s Lacrosse Championship will take place May 1-3 on the campus of Canisius College in Buffalo, New York.
