EDISON, N.J. - The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference announces the 2011-2012 All-MAAC Men's Basketball Teams, selected by the MAAC's head coaches.

The first team is made up of Rakim Sanders from Fairfield University, Mike Glover and Scott Machado from Iona College, Erik Etherly from Loyola University Maryland, George Beamon from Manhattan College and OD Anosike of Siena College. Glover and Machado are repeat selections from last season's First Team. These six players are now eligible to be named the 2011-2012 Pepsi Max MAAC Player of the Year, also selected by the head coaches of the league. The winner will be announced on Thursday, March 1 at 6:30 p.m. at the Postseason Awards Show located at the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. The show will be broadcast live on MAAC.TV.

Sanders, a 6-foot-5, 210-pound redshirt-senior forward from Pawtucket, R.I., made the most of his first season playing for the Stags. He closed out the regular season ranked fourth in scoring with 16.7 points per game and third in rebounds with 8.2 caroms an outing for Fairfield. Named the MAAC Player of the Week on Dec. 5, 2011, Sanders recorded eight double-doubles this season and registered double figures in 27 out of 30 games.

Glover, a 6-foot-7, 215-pound senior forward from the Bronx, N.Y., earned a spot on the All-MAAC First Team for the second consecutive year. He finished the regular season ranked second in both scoring (18.1 ppg) and rebounding (9.1 rpg). Glover is also second in the nation in field goal percentage, netting 64.7 percent of his attempts from the field. For the second time in his college career, he was named the Oscar Robinson National Player of the Week after averaging 20.7 points and 7.5 rebounds in wins over Richmond and Vermont in December 2011. A three-time MAAC Player of the Week, he recorded 13 double-doubles and posted double figures in 29 games played this year.

Machado, a 6-foot-1, 180-pound senior guard from Queens, N.Y., is also a two-time member of the All-MAAC First Team. A finalist for the Bob Cousy Collegiate Point Guard of the Year award, he leads the nation in assists with 10.1 a night for the Gaels, while adding 13.1 points and 5.0 rebounds per game. Machado is shooting 47.7 percent from the field, 40.2 percent from three-point range and 80.5 percent from the free throw line. Named MAAC Player of the Week four times this season, he posted double digits in 22 games and 11 double-doubles during the regular season as well as his first career triple double on Feb. 12.

Etherly, a 6-foot-7, 225-pound junior forward from Alexandria, Va., helped lead the Greyhounds to a second-place finish during the regular season. He is 16th in the MAAC in scoring with 13.1 points per game, and fourth in rebounding with 7.7 boards an outing. Etherly is also fourth in the league in field goal percentage (53.2), blocked shots (1.3) and defensive rebounds (5.0). A two-time MAAC Player of the Week, he has netted double-digit points in 20 contests for the Greyhounds and recorded eight double-doubles this season.

Beamon, a 6-foot-4, 170-pound junior guard/forward from Roslyn, N.Y., played a major role in the success of the Jaspers this season. He leads the MAAC in scoring with 18.4 points per game, and ranked 11th in steals with 1.5 takeaways an outing and 15th in rebounding with 5.6 boards a night. Beamon is also seventh in the league in free throw percentage, connecting on 80 percent of his attempts from the charity stripe. He netted double-digit points in all 28 contests for Manhattan. Beamon was named MAAC Player of the Week on Jan. 16.

Anosike, a 6-foot-8, 232-pound junior forward from Staten Island, N.Y., leads the nation in two categories -- rebounding with 12.9 caroms per game and double-doubles with 22. A two-time MAAC Player of the Week this season, he closed out the regular season ranked sixth in the league in scoring (15.1 ppg), fifth in field goal percentage (52.2) and ninth in blocks (1.1).

The 2011-2012 All-MAAC Second Team is a strong unit as well. The second team is made up of Canisius College junior guard Harold Washington, Fairfield junior guard Derek Needham, Iona junior guard Lamont Jones, Loyola sophomore guard Dylon Cormier and Rider University senior forward Brandon Penn.

This season's third unit is also a formidable group.
