Edison, N.J. - A total of 1,569 athletes were honored for their achievements both academically and athletically as the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference announced the 2011-12 MAAC Academic Honor Roll.
To be eligible for the MAAC Academic Honor Roll, an athlete must hold a grade point average of 3.20 or higher on a 4.0 scale. The Honor Roll is open to both full-time and associate members of the MAAC with athletes represented in all 24 sports that the conference sponsors.
Marist College heads the list of honored student-athletes with 237, followed by Iona College with 171 and Rider University with 163. The rest of the list is as follows: Fairfield University with 146, Manhattan College with 128, Canisius College with 126, Saint Peter's College with 119, Siena College with 118, Loyola University Maryland with 116 and Niagara University with 97. Among the associate members, Jacksonville University, which competes in men's lacrosse and women's rowing, has the most with 37.
