Edison, NJ - Iona College's Ethan Heywood was named the MAAC Men's Cross Country Performer of the Week. Kim Vona of Niagara University earned the award on the women's side.

Heywood was the individual champion at the 2012 New York Metropolitan Championships at Van Cortlandt Park.  He finished the 8k course with a time of 25:53.71 in his season debut. The field featured 111 individual competitors. The Gaels finished fourth in the 12 team race.

Vona led Niagara University for the fourth consecutive race as she placed fourth overall at the Slippery Rock Invitational. She finished the 6k event with a time of 23:38 and helped the Purple Eagles to a third place finish out of seven.
