Sheahin Named MAAC Preseason Player of the Year

Poughkeepsie, NY - Loyola University Maryland senior guard Katie Sheahin has been named the 2012-2013 MAAC Women's Basketball Preseason Player of the Year, as selected by the league's 10 head coaches.

Sheahin earned All-MAAC First Team honors in 2011-12. The Brookeville, Md., native scored 453 points last season, and has totaled 1,111 career points. The senior guard earned her second-consecutive MAAC Defensive Player of the Year last year, becoming second player in conference history to earn the award in back-to-back seasons.

Sheahin led Loyola and ranked third in the MAAC with 15.1 points per game. She led the MAAC with 3.4 steals per game and had 102 total steals last season. Sheahin recorded a single-season record, playing an average of 37.3 minutes per game, while starting in all 30 games of the season.
