Damika Martinez led the Gaels in a 2-0 weekend averaging 24.0 points and 7.5 rebounds in wins over Navy at home Friday and Long Beach State on the road Sunday. Martinez poured in 26 points and eight boards against the Midshipmen, shooting 10-for-17 from the field and 4-for-8 from beyond the arc. She added 22 points and seven rebounds with another four three-point field goals in the win at Long Beach State.

Rookie of the Week

Joy Adams, Iona, Fr.  F, 5-11 Orlando, FL / Evans

Joy Adams made an immediate impact on the Gael lineup in her first weekend in Maroon & Gold. Her offensive rebound and put back at the buzzer at Long Beach State was the gamewinner in the 60-58 win over the 49ers. Adams posted 15 points and 12 rebounds in her first collegiate double-double. In Iona's two wins this weekend, Adams averaged 11.0 points and 9.5 rebounds. She added a block and two steals in her collegiate debut.
