Five MXC Harriers Named All-Northeast Region

NEW ORLEANS, LA - All five scorers for the No. 4 Iona College men's cross country team earned All-Northeast Region honors for their performance in Friday's NCAA Northeast Regional Championship in Madison, CT.

By virtue of their top 25 performances, senior Mitch Goose - the Northeast Region's Champion and Athlete of the Year - junior Daniel Clorley (4th), sophomore Jake Byrne (8th), junior Matthew Gillespie (13th) and red shirt freshman Michael O'Dowd (19th) were all named All-Region.

Iona was one of 19 schools in the NCAA to have at least five All-Region honorees. Florida State from the South region had the most with seven. Syracuse - who finished third at regionals - had six to lead the Northeast.

The Gaels will compete for the national championship this Saturday (Nov. 17) in Louisville, KY.The final USTFCCCA poll prior to the NCAA meet is released tomorrow.
