FAIRFIELD, Conn. - In their first NCAA postseason appearance in more than a decade, the Fairfield University volleyball team has drawn sixth-seeded University of Southern California in the first round of the 2012 NCAA Division I Women's Volleyball Championship. The Stags and the Women of Troy will square off on Thursday, November 29 at 7:30pm (PT) at the Galen Center in Los Angeles, Calif.

"We're very excited to be heading to USC for the first round," said Head Coach
Alija Pittenger, the two-time MAAC Coach of the Year. "The entire team has worked hard all year, facing tough competition. We're looking forward to challenging ourselves against a top program like USC."

The Women of Troy posted a 27-5 overall record and a 15-5 mark in the Pac-12 to finish third in the conference. USC has advanced to the national semifinal in each of the last two years; three times in the last five seasons. USC will also play host to St. Mary's (CA) and San Diego State who face off at 5pm (PT) in first round action.

Fairfield (22-8; 15-3 MAAC) captured the 2012 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championship on their home court by defeating Siena College, 3-2, to secure an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. This is the Stags sixth NCAA Tournament appearance in program history and the first since 2001. The Stags have travelled to California twice for the NCAA Tournament, doing so in 1999 and 2000.

Fairfield has faced USC just once in program history with that meeting coming on November 20, 1999 in Los Angeles, Calif.

General admission seating for all matches is available. All-Session tickets for adults are $15 and $12 for students, seniors, and children. Single Session tickets, which are solely available at the Galen Center Box Office, are $10 for adults and $6 for students, seniors, and children. For more information, visit
