Canisius Hosts MAAC Basketball DH on Sunday on ESPN3

Edison, N.J. - Canisius College's Koessler Athletic Center will be the site of the MAAC men's and women's basketball doubleheader that will be televised on Sunday, Jan. 27. Both National MAAC Games of the Week will air live on ESPN3.

The first game of the twin bill in the Battle of the Bridge will feature a match-up between the women's programs from Niagara University and Canisius at 1:00 p.m. Niagara, 8-9 overall and 3-3 in the MAAC, is led by junior center Lauren Gatto, who is registering 13.9 points and 6.4 rebounds per game, and junior guard Kayla Stroman, who is averaging 8.0 points and 4.1 assists a night for the Purple Eagles. Canisius, 7-10 overall and 4-2 in the MAAC, is led by senior guard Ashley Durham, who is contributing 10.3 points and 3.3 rebounds per game, and junior forward Jamie Ruttle, who is posting 8.8 points and 3.8 rebounds an outing for the Golden Griffins.

Game two has the men's teams for Niagara and Canisius for a 4:00 p.m. tip-off. Niagara, 11-8 overall and 7-1 in the MAAC, is led by redshirt sophomore guard Antoine Mason, who is averaging 18.4 points and 4.5 rebounds per game, as well as sophomore guard Juan'ya Green, who is contributing 16.2 points and 4.6 assists an outing for the Purple Eagles. Canisius, 12-7 overall and 5-3 in the MAAC, is led by junior guard Billy Baron, who is averaging 16.4 points and 4.6 rebounds an outing, and senior guard Harold Washington, who is netting 13.3 points and dishing out 2.6 assists a night for the Griffs.
