Edison, N.J. – Manhattan College’s Mikael Rojeras and Niagara University’s Kim Vona have earned the MAAC Cross Country Runner of the Week awards for the week of September 17th.
Rojeras (Sala, Sweden), continued his strong season by finishing first overall at the LIU Post Invitational on Saturday. Running the full 8K distance for the first time this season, the senior posted a time of 25:34.37 to beat 134 other competitors in the race and lead Manhattan to second place in the team standings. This is the second week in a row Rojeras has earned the award.
Senior Kim Vona (Angola, NY), continued her early season success when she posted a running time of 22.36.10 in the 6K to take home a first place overall finish in the 165 runner field at Saturday’s Rochester Yellowjacket Invitational. The New York native was the women’s individual champion for the second consecutive race.
The 2013 MAAC Cross Country Championships will be held on Friday, November 1st at Van Cortlandt Park in Bronx, N.Y.
