Edison, N.J. – Ranked as the #14 team in the nation during the coaches’ preseason poll, the Iona Gaels were ready for the pressures of being one of the top Men’s Cross Country programs in the nation. Continual MAAC Champions for the last twenty-two years, Iona’s success comes as no surprise. Moving into the #13 spot, Iona has plenty to live up to. The Gaels winning tradition has made them a championship contender every season.
The Men’s Cross Country team has been ranked among the top teams in the region year after year, and this season is no different. Ranked as the #2 team in the northeast region by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association, the Gaels work toward their 23rd straight conference title.
The Iona Women’s Cross Country team is also ranked regionally by the USTFCCCA, coming in at #6 in the northeast. Crowned conference champions for the last eight seasons, the team focuses in on another championship in 2013. Make sure to follow the Iona College Gaels throughout the season to see how they finish.
The 2013 MAAC Cross Country Championships will be held on Friday, November 1st at Van Cortlandt Park in Bronx, N.Y.
