EDISON, N.J. – Conference competition begins this upcoming weekend (Sept. 20-22) for women’s soccer and volleyball teams in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, with a full slate of action throughout the league.

Saturday’s volleyball schedule features five MAAC contests, including preseason favorite Fairfield visiting in-state rival Quinnipiac for the first time in league play. Also on tap are Canisius at Saint Peter’s; Niagara at Rider; Marist at Manhattan and Iona at Siena. All matches are set to begin at 1 p.m.

MAAC volleyball action continues on Sunday when Niagara visits Saint Peter’s, Iona at Marist; Canisius at Rider and Manhattan at Siena. All matches have 1 p.m. starting times.

Women’s soccer gets underway on Friday with the lone non-conference match of the weekend, when Central Connecticut State visits Fairfield at 7 p.m. On Saturday, Monmouth, with a 6-1 non-conference mark and ranked No. 9 in the NSCAA’s Northeast Region, will visit Niagara.

Also on Saturday’s slate are Quinnipiac at Saint Peter’s; Siena at Rider; Canisius at Iona; and Manhattan at Marist. All matches are set to begin at 1 p.m. with the exception of Manhattan-Marist, which will kickoff at 4 p.m.

Ten men’s soccer matches are set for the weekend, with a busy Friday with five contests kicking off the action. Niagara will visit Robert Morris (3 p.m.), Canisius plays at Western Michigan (4) and Saint Peter’s hosts Delaware (4) in afternoon matches. Manhattan will play at Columbia, and Albany at Monmouth, in a pair of 7 p.m. starts.

On Saturday, Marist will play host to Sacred Heart and Iona visits Hartwick, with both matches kicking off at 7.

Sunday’s action begins with an 11 a.m. match when St. Francis of Brooklyn visits Manhattan. Canisius is at Detroit, and Rider at St. Bonaventure, in a pair of noon starts. Rounding out the schedule on Sunday will be Monmouth at Hofstra at 1, and Niagara at St. Francis (PA.) at 3.

MAAC field hockey teams will continue to face non-conference foes this weekend. On Friday, Monmouth will host Liberty (3 p.m.), Rider will host Towson (7) and Bryant will be at St. Louis (1).

On Saturday, Bryant continues its road trip with a 1 p.m. match against Missouri State. Quinnipiac will host Vermont at 11, and Robert Morris will visit UMass-Lowell for a noon start. Four matches on Sunday round out the MAAC field hockey action for the weekend; with Robert Morris at Lock Haven at 11, Towson at Monmouth at 12, Rider at Appalachian State at 1, and Saint Joseph’s visiting Quinnipiac at 2.

MAAC.TV, the league’s streaming video channel, will broadcast a number of this weekend’s events, including both volleyball matches at Rider (Sat. vs. Niagara at 1 and Sun. vs. Canisius at 1) which will air in HD.

Volleyball: Canisius at Saint Peter’s, Sat, 1 p.m.; Niagara at Rider, Sat., 1 p.m.; Niagara at Saint Peter’s, Sun., 1 p.m.; and Canisius at Rider, Sun., 1 p.m.

Field Hockey: Towson at Rider, Fri., 7 p.m.

Men’s Soccer: Delaware at Saint Peter’s, Fri., 4 p.m.; Sacred Heart at Marist, 7 p.m.; St. Francis at Manhattan, Sun., 11 a.m.
