Edison, NJ - The Siena College Saints were selected as the top team in MAAC Men's Lacrosse in 2014, according to the league's seven head coaches.

Siena, last year’s MAAC Championship runner-up, went 8-9 overall and 4-2 in the MAAC in 2013. The Saints will return 2013 First Team All-MAAC selections Colin Clive and Conor Prunty as well as 2013 Second Team All-MAAC selections Richie Hurley and Adam Hall. Siena’s head coach John Svec, who was named Anaconda Sports MAAC Coach of the Year in 2012, returns for his third seasons at the helm of the Saints.

Siena's Prunty was chosen as the 2014 MAAC Men’s Lacrosse Preseason Player of the Year. Prunty, a native of Yorktown Heights, New York was ranked first in the MAAC in scoring (50) and tied for third in both assists (19) and goals (31) in the 2013 season. He stood 4th in the league in points per game with 2.94 points and 5th in assists per game with 1.12 and goals per game with 1.82.

University of Detroit Mercy, the defending MAAC champions, was second in the poll with 41 points. Marist College, the 2013 MAAC regular season champions, finished with 33 points for third in the poll. Canisius College and Quinnipiac University tied for fourth at 24 points followed by Manhattan College (15) and Monmouth University (7).

The preseason All-MAAC team consists of Detroit's Alex Maini, Marist’s Joe Radin, Quinnipiac’s Mike Sagl and Siena’s Clive and Hurley at attack. The midfielders are Canisius’ Tim Edwards, Detroit’s Mike Birney and Siena’s Prunty. Canisius’ Adam Donner and Siena’s Hall and Brendan Meehan were selected as the defensemen. Marist’s Dave Scarcello and Quinnipiac’s Gill Conners were selected as the goalkeepers.
