Drame averaged a double-double again this week, with 20.0 points and 15.5 rebounds in two victories. Drame scored 14 points, grabbed 13 rebounds and had one blocked shot in the Bobcats win at Canisius, shooting 50.0 percent from the floor and 75.0 percent from the line. Drame followed that up with a career-high 26 points and snatched a game-high 18 rebounds in a 90-88 win at Niagara. He was 10-of-12 (.833) from the field and 6-of-8 (.750) from the free-throw line, while collecting a career high nine offensive rebounds. Drame now has 21 career double-doubles, including 12 this season. This is the second time this season that he has been selected as Player of the Week.
MAAC Rookie of the Week
LAVON LONG, Siena
Fr., G/F, 6-6, 234, Baltimore, Md./Oakland Mills
Long matched his career-high of 16 points in an important game for Siena, a 69-60 win at Rider on Feb. 23. Although he was in foul trouble in the first half and played limited minutes, Long was the difference for Siena in the second half. He scored all 16 of his points in the final stanza, including a three-point play following a huge offensive rebound to give Siena a 60-56 lead with 3:12 left in the game. He then calmly sank two free throws with 23 seconds left to help secure the win. Despite playing just 20 minutes, Long just missed a double-double with nine rebounds. He added three assists and a steal, helping the Saints secure a share of fifth place in the MAAC standings after entering the weekend alone in seventh place. Long scored six points in Siena’s win over Manhattan earlier in the week, including a field goal with 10:40 left to give the Saints a 47-46 lead. Long had two key rebounds in the final 1:31 that helped seal the 67-63 win. Long averaged 11 points, six rebounds 1.5 assists and just one turnover on the week.
