Pugliese picked up a pair of No. 1 singles wins over Saint Joseph’s and Lafayette to help pace the Hawks to a 1-1 record in a weather-shortened week. The junior transfer registered a come-from-behind victory over St. Joe’s Jose Sierra 6-7 (4), 6-2, 6-0 on Saturday before cruising to a 6-2, 6-0 victory over the Leopard’s Brandon Goldstein. In MU’s 7-0 blanking of Lafayette, Pugliese, along with teammate Luke Adamus, cruised to an 8-2 win over Chris Matturi and Brian Pinkard at No. 2 doubles. To date, Puglises has captured 10 overall singles victories, including a 4-1 mark at No. 1 singles with wins over Army, Boston College, Saint Joseph’s and Lafayette.

Oliphant survived in a third-set tie-breaker to defeat Della Taylor from Army for the lone Bobcat point on Saturday afternoon. Oliphant won the first set, 6-4, but Taylor battled back to win the second set, 6-4. The freshman from Calgary came through in the end, defeating Taylor 11-9 in thrilling fashion for the victory. She has 17 wins at Quinnipiac this year.
