Murphy posted a first-place shot put mark of 18.48 meters (60’ 7.75”) at the Stockton Invite this past weekend. He is now seventh in the East and 19th in NCAA Division I with that throw so far this season. That mark not only qualifies him for ECAC competition, but also NCAA Regional qualification.
At Stanford on Friday, Johannes Motschmann placed ninth in the invite 3,000 meter steeplechase for the Gaels. The junior clocked in at 8:50.80 for the fastest time in the MAAC this season thus far by nearly 40 seconds. It was his first steeplechase race of the season.
Roones won the javelin at the Stockton Invite this past weekend, doing so with a toss of 47.76m (156’ 8”), a personal best as well as an NCAA Regional qualifying mark. Her throw ranks her 14th in the East this year and 31st in NCAA Division I.
Fresh off one of the single-greatest indoor seasons in program history, Jessica Lee showed no signs of rust as she rang in the outdoor season with yet another first place finish in the hurdles. Running in the 100m hurdles event, Lee bested her own program record with a time of 13.89 seconds to top the field of 56 competitors. After winning seven 60m hurdles titles in the 2016-17 indoor campaign, Lee opens the 2017 outdoor season with her eighth first place finish out of nine hurdle event appearances.
