Iona's Miller Lands First Team All-America Honors At NCAA Outdoor Championships

EUGENE, OR - A season-best mile time in the final portion of the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships 5,000 meter final helped land Chartt Miller in sixth place and on the All-Ameica First Team this evening at the University of Oregon.
Miller finished just a second behind the top finisher, Grant Fisher of Stanford, with a 14:36.79 time for sixth place among the field of 24 individuals. Additonally, the senior was .01 seconds shy of fifth place, claimed by Amon Terer of Campbell.
Racing within the top pack for most of the race, Miller recorded a 4:06.31 final mile of the race that included a 56.80 clocking in the last 400 meters.
The All-American honor is the second of the week for the Maroon & Gold following Gilbert Kirui earning sixth place in the 10,000 meter on Wednesday. Additionally, Kirui and Miller join Liam Dee as three All-Americans for the Iona track program this academic year after Dee was honored during the Indoor Championships in the mile.
