Dylan Newman - Iona College
Men's Golf, Sr., New Rochelle, N.Y./New Rochelle

Iona College senior golfer Dylan Newman was named the MAAC men's Golfer for the of October after he claimed a pair of top-five finishes this past month for the Gaels, beginning with a second place tie at the Connecticut Cup. Newman finished the three round tournaments with a four-under 212, shooting one round at even par and two rounds under par. Newman wrapped up his fall season with a fourth-place tie at the Barnabas Health Collegiate hosted by Seton Hall University. Newman finished the two rounds with a three-over 146.

Megan Elgin - Rider University
Women's Cross Country, Sr., Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks East

Rider University senior Megan Elgin is enjoying her senior year, excelling in the classroom as well as on the cross country trails. A Psychology major with a minor in Law and Justice/Legal Studies, Elgin recently placed fifth out of 116 runners at the 2012 MAAC Women's Cross Country Championship, held at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World. It was the highest finish ever by a Rider woman. Elgin covered the 6,000 meter Disney course in 21:42, breaking the Rider record for that course by 51 seconds. It was the second year in a row Elgin earned All-MAAC honors (top 15), placing 13th at the 2011 MAAC Championship. Elgin also earned MAAC All-Academic team honors for a third time, compiling a 3.86 cumulative grade point average. Elgin is now looking forward to the ECAC Championships. Last year she set the Rider record for the Van Cortlandt State Park course at the ECACs, finishing sixth among the top 215 runners in the East. Along with her cross country achievements, Elgin also holds Rider track records for the 3,000 meters indoor and the 5,000 meters both indoor and outdoor.
