Robert Varieur - Manhattan College
Men's Swimming, Thiells, N.Y./North Rockland
Senior captain Robert Varieur has been at the head of the impressive growth of the Manhattan men's swim program. The Civil Engineering major has led the squad to a 5-1 record in the earlier season, accounting for 12 event victories. A three-time team MVP, Varieur also owns seven program records including top marks in three individual events. Most recently he is coming off a season's best performance in the 200 freestyle against NJIT and St. Francis (NY) with a time of 1:49.04 seconds.
Lesli Akeo - Siena College
Volleyball, Sr., L, 5-4, Kapolei, Hawaii/Kamehameha
Akeo recently completed arguably the most decorated career of any libero in MAAC history. The MAAC Libero of the Year, a First Team All-Conference selection and MAAC All-Tournament Team selection, Akeo became just the fifth player in MAAC history to record 2,000 career digs earlier this season. The 2011 MAAC Co-Defensive Player of the Year, earlier this season Akeo was named one of just 30 student athletes nationally (including the only MAAC nominee and lone Northeast candidate) for the prestigious Senior CLASS Award. A Management Major who carries a 3.73 cumulative GPA, Akeo has been featured in the Siena Business Report, and is a three-time MAAC All-Academic and MAAC Honor Roll selection. This summer she attended the NCAA Career in Sports forum in Indianapolis and is one of the founding members of Siena College's Polynesian Culture Club.
