Women's Basketball, Jr., C, 6-2, Mayfield, Ohio/Illinois-Chicago
Center Lauren Gatto has been putting together solid numbers for the Niagara women's basketball team during the 2012-13 campaign. Heading into the second half of the season, the pre-season All-MAAC Second Team honoree is currently leading the Purple Eagles in points per game with 13.7 and rebounds per game with 5.7. Gatto, who was also a member of the pre-season All-Big 4 First Team (the Big Four is the Western New York rivalry between Niagara, Canisius, Buffalo and St. Bonaventure), has led the team in scoring in 10-of-13 games this season, including a career-high 22 points against Iona on Jan. 4. The performance against the Gaels gave Gatto over 600 points for her career and she surpassed the 300 career-rebounds mark earlier this season against Lehigh on Dec. 8. The Mayfield, Ohio native has started in all 13 games so far this season. She is not only a hard worker on the court, but in the classroom as well, as she currently holds a 3.93 grade-point average as a business management major.
