Player of the Week
Taylor Akana, Siena, Jr., Outside Hitter, 5-7, Kaneohe, Hawaii/Kamehameha
Akana helped Siena clinch a MAAC Tournament bid, averaging 4.7 kills and 4.0 digs per set in sweeps of Manhattan and Saint Peter's. In the team's most important match of the season, Akana had a huge match, averaging nearly six kills and six digs per set in the 3-0 win over the Jaspers. She set the tone from the start, killing eight of her 13 attacks in the first set leading Siena to a 25-12 rout. Akana had 11 kills, despite sitting out nearly the entire second set in the 3-0 win over Saint Peter's. The Preseason Player of the Year entered the second set when it was tied at 23-23, killed her first attack to give Siena the lead, and then served the Saints to a 25-23 victory. In the decisive third set, Akana had eight kills and four digs as Siena edged away late for a 25-22 win.
Libero of the Week
Allyson Severyn, Canisius, Sr., Libero, 5-7, Lancaster, N.Y./St. Mary's
Severyn averaged 7.38 digs per set in two Canisius road victories last weekend while posting a perfect 1.000 service reception percentage. The 5-foot-7 libero recorded a career-high 38 digs in the five-set win at Loyola and also had 22 digs in a sweep at Rider. Severyn also did not commit an error on 58 service receptions to go along with three service aces.
Rookie of the Week
Lauren Siebert, Canisius, Fr., Middle Hitter, 5-10, Orefield, Pa./Parkland
Siebert took advantage of her start in Sunday's five-set win at Loyola as the freshman had 14 kills and just one attack error to post a .500 attack percentage. Siebert also had eight blocks in the match. The 5-foot-10 middle hitter entered the match with 20 kills and 11 blocks in her previous 27 sets played.
