Chomicki led the Canisius offense from the leadoff spot in the order, recording team highs with a .357 batting average, five runs scored and five hits. He also had two doubles and was 3-for-3 on stolen-base attempts. Chomicki drew three walks to post a .471 on-base percentage, reaching base at least twice in all four games. In the six-run, eighth-inning rally in the 6-5 win over Toledo, Chomicki had a two-out, two-RBI double and also scored the game-winning run later in the inning.

GARRETT CORTRIGHT, CANISIUS
Freshman, RHP, 6-5, 190, Hamburg, N.Y./Frontier
In his collegiate debut, Cortright allowed just one run, five hits (all singles) and one walk while striking out seven in 7.2 innings pitched to pick up the win in a 4-1 victory over Creighton. He retired the first eight batters he faced and only allowed the leadoff batter to reach in one of eight innings.

JOE TORRES, IONA
Freshman, INF/OF, Brooklyn, N.Y./Xaverian
Torres began his collegiate career with eight hits in 15 at-bats (.533) over three games for the Gaels in Spartansburg, S.C. From the leadoff spot, he scored three runs and drove in two others while not striking out in his 15 plate appearances. Torres had two multiple-hit efforts, including a 5-for-6 game against Wofford on Saturday afternoon.
