Quaranto, Davis and Zimmer Win Final Baseball Weekly Awards

KEVIN QUARANTO, SIENA

Quaranto played the starring role as Siena secured its first MAAC Championship bid since 2008 with a series win over Marist. He started the scoring with a two-run home run in the first inning of game one, a 3-2 Siena win, and went 3-for-3 with two RBI in clinching 5-3 victory in game two. Quaranto batted .667 (6-for-9) in the three-game series with five RBI, three runs scored and a 1.111 slugging percentage. He also reached base in 75% of his plate appearances and now boasts a .461 OB% this season.
MAAC Pitcher of the Week
SHANE DAVIS, CANISIUS
Senior, LHP, 6-0, 185, Belmont, Ontario/East Elgin Secondary
In his last home start, Davis went eight innings, allowing one run on five hits, walked zero and struck out four to give Canisius an important game one win in the final regular-season series. He allowed one run for the fourth time in the last six starts. Davis earned his 35th career win in his 55th career start, tying the program record for career starts.
MAAC Rookie of the Week
SHANE ZIMMER, CANISIUS
Freshman, OF, 6-0, 196, St. Albert, Alberta/Vauxhall
Zimmer led the Canisius offense in six games last week and hit .538 (7-for-13) with five runs scored, five RBI, two home runs and a triple. He hit a home run in each of the final two games of the season, the first two homers of his career. Zimmer also had three walks and a hit by pitch to post a .647 on-base percentage to go along with a 1.154 slugging percentage.
