Barney and Needham Named MAAC Men's Basketball Players of the Week

Barney, a junior guard, led the Greyhounds to an 85-51 victory over Howard in their only game of the week. He came off the bench to score a season- and game-high 28 points while playing just 21 minutes. Barney made 11 of his 14 field-goal attempts (.786) and three of his four tries from three-point range (.750). He also led the team with five rebounds and four assists. Barney scored 18 of his points during Loyola's game-breaking 37-5 run, including 14 as the Greyhounds finished the run with 24 straight points. He ranked third in statistical proficiency among all NCAA Division I players for games played that day by ESPN Stats.

DEREK NEEDHAM, FAIRFIELD
Freshman, Guard, 5-11, 180, Dalton, Ill./De La Salle Institute
Needham, a freshman guard, tallied 17 points and just missed his double double with nine assists despite foul trouble and fouling out for the first time. He made six of 13 shots from the field, including his only three-point attempt, and four of five free throws. For the season, Needham is averaging 15.8 points and 6.1 assists per contest.
