MAAC Player of the Week

 

Ronald Moore, Siena

Junior, Guard, 6-0, 160, Conshohocken, Pa./Plymouth Whitemarsh

Moore, a junior guard, averaged 14.7 points, 6.7 assists and five rebounds in three games this past week for the Saints.  He began the week with a strong effort at defending National Champion Kansas, scoring 18 points to go along with eight assists and just two turnovers in Siena’s narrow loss.  Moore then helped engineer two MAAC wins, first scoring 13 points and dishing out eight assists and grabbing six rebounds in a home win over Rider.  He then scored 13 points and added five rebounds, four assists and just one turnover in 36 minutes at Manhattan.  Moore made 49 percent of his field goals, 36 percent of his three-pointers and both of his free throws on the week.  

 

 

 

MAAC Rookie of the Week

 

Scott machado, Iona

Freshman, Guard, 6-1, 180, Queens, N.Y./St. Benedict's Prep (N.J.)

Machado, a freshman guard, averaged 16.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game while shooting 52.4 percent from the field (11-for-21) and 50.0 percent (3-of-6) from the behind the arc in the Gaels' 1-1 week.  He led the team in scoring in both contests, scoring 15 points in 22 minutes vs. Canisius on Friday and 17 vs. Rider on Sunday.   Machado was instrumental in the Gaels' comeback effort vs. the Broncs, scoring 11 points in the second half, including a game-tying layup with five ticks left on the clock.  He also led the squad with seven rebounds and six assists in the loss.
