Edison, N.J. - The Canisius College Golden Griffins women's lacrosse team will face the University of Massachusetts in an NCAA Play-In game on Sunday May 6, at 11:30 a.m. at McGuirk Stadium on the UMass campus.
The Golden Griffins claimed their second women's lacrosse title in as many years when they won the 2012 MAAC Women's Lacrosse Championship this past weekend by defeating Fairfield in the championship, 15-11, and improved their record to 10-8 on the season.
The Minutewomen of UMass improved to 18-1 last Sunday with a 14-9 win over Richmond to capture their fourth consecutive Atlantic 10 title. The win moved UMass up to No. 6 in the latest NCAA RPI rankings. The Minutewomen have now won 11 straight games heading into the play-in game.
The play-in game will be a rematch of last year's play-in game between Canisius and UMass which UMass won, 16-8.
For Sunday's game, tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for children (12-and-under). Tickets are on sale now by calling 866-UMASS-TIX and will be available at the gate.
