Edison, NJ - Indoor Track & Field Performer of the Week honors were awarded to Kristen Perrine of Rider University and Arquimedes Delacruz of Marist College.
Perrine won the 1000m (3:00.82) and ran the third leg of the 4x800 relay that won with a time of 9:33.67 in Rider's dual meet with TCNJ on Super Bowl Sunday. Perrine also ran Friday evening at the Armory in New York (New Balance Invitational) on the second leg of the 4x800 with an ECAC qualifying time of 9:15.50, setting a new Rider record by almost four seconds.
DelaCruz turned in an excellent performance for the Red Foxes at the New Balance Invitational in New York City on February 5. Running in the 5,000-meter race, he finished in fourth place in the college open division with a time of 14:43.79, a personal-best time by 20 seconds and his first time under 15:00. This is the second consecutive weekend that DelaCruz has run a IC4A qualifying time. DelaCruz becomes only the third distance runner in school history to qualify for the two longest indoor IC4A events in the same season.
The 2011 MAAC Indoor Track & Field Championships will be hosted on February 18 at The New Balance Track & Field Center in New York, NY.
