Iona to Face UCLA in NCAA Water Polo Championship

NEW ROCHELLE, NY - A day after clinching their second consecutive MAAC championship, the No. 20 Iona College women's water polo team learned that they would be taking on No. 3 UCLA in the first round of the 2012 NCAA Championship. The Gaels, seeded seventh, take on the second seeded Bruins May 11 at 3:00 pm EST at the Aztec Aquaplex at San Diego State University.

The Gaels clinched the conference's automatic berth with a 10-9 overtime victory over Wagner in the championship game, overcoming an early 5-1 deficit. Junior Alyssa Turza was named Most Outstanding Performer after scoring four goals in the deciding game. Turza was joined by senior Cecilia Leonard and sophomore Marisa Gaynor on the All-Tournament Team.
