Canisius’ Erica Evans Earns NCAA Women’s Lacrosse Player of the Week Honor

EDISON, NJ – Canisius College junior midfield Erica Evans was named the NCAA Women’s Lacrosse Player of the Week based upon a fan vote that was held on Twitter this afternoon. Evans was named the MAAC Offensive Player of the Week on Monday, April 10 for her performance over the past week.

The junior tallied nine goals and four assists for 13 points in two games. She added 11 ground balls, 10 draw controls, and five caused turnovers over the two-game span. In Canisius’ 25-11 win over Siena College, Evans recorded her 155th career goal to become the Griffs’ all-time leading goals scorer.

In an 18-3 victory over Monmouth University, she became only the fifth player in program history to reach the 200-point mark, totaling six points on four goals.

Evans leads the MAAC in goals scored (49), goals per game (3.77), points (65), points per game (5.00), ground balls (45), and ground balls per game (3.46) through 13 games this season. She has the sixth most goals and 10th most points in the nation, while having the fifth highest goals per game average and 10th highest points per game total.

The Peterborough, Ontario native is a two-time MAAC Midfielder of the Year and has taken home the MAAC Offensive Player of the Week honor three times this season.
