Lundgren, Henry & Amorosa Take Home Final 2014 Weekly Water Polo Honors

Edison, N.J. – Following another weekend of MAAC competition, the MAAC Offensive Player of the Week is Jessica Lundgren of Wagner College. The MAAC Defensive Player of the Week is the Red Foxes goalkeeper Skyler Henry, and the MAAC Rookie of the Week is Amanda Amorosa also of Marist.

Lundgren was integral in four wins that led Wagner to a regular season MAAC Championship over the weekend. The sophomore tallied 22 points off of 15 goals and seven assists, while grabbing 22 steals, drawing six exclusions, and blocking two shots from the field. Lundgren had six goals, four assists, and seven steals in a 20-8 Wagner win over Siena. She continued her weekend posting a total of six goals, eight steals, and one assist in a 19-9 win over VMI. In Wagner’s 9-8 win over Marist, Lundgren scored one goal and recorded one assist, but also added two steals, two drawn exclusions, and two field blocks. In the final Wagner game of the weekend, Lundgren scored five goals and added one assist in a 14-5 win over Villanova.

Henry, the sophomore goalkeeper, aided the Red Foxes to a 3-1 weekend to close out the regular season. In the team’s four-game stint, she posted 39 saves in 61 shots on goal, averaging 5.5 goals against and .639 save percentage. She also tallied four steals and five assists in four games, while tacking on her first career goal in the Red Foxes’ win over St. Francis. In the regular season, Henry has played every minute for Marist while averaging a .478 save percentage and an 8.66 goals against average.

Amorosahad an outstanding weekend for the Red Foxes, leading the team in all four of its MAAC outings. Despite a 9-8 loss, Amorosa notched three goals, one assist, one steal, and one field block against Wagner. She answered back in the team‘s 12-6 win over VMI, tallying four goals, three assists, one steal and one field block for the Red Foxes. Amorosa tacked on another three-goal game to her resume as Marist defeated Villanova, while adding an assist and a field block. To close out the weekend, she added four goals to defeat St. Francis, while compiling three steals, an assist and an ejection drawn. Overall, she totaled 14 goals and six assists for 20 points, as well as five steals, three field blocks and one ejection drawn. Throughout the season, Amorosa leads the Red Foxes with 75 goals, while being second on the team with 51 assists and 15 field blocks.
